Our History

Our History

Our History

The Marcus and Lisa Coleman Foundation was born from a deep commitment to serve, uplift, and create lasting change in the lives of youth and families across San Antonio. Founded by Marcus and Lisa Coleman—two community leaders shaped by personal adversity and driven by purpose—the foundation began with a simple mission: to be the kind of support system they once needed.

Marcus, a former NFL player, and Lisa, a devoted community advocate, combined their passions for mentorship, education, and wellness to build programs that meet youth where they are and help them rise. What started as small acts of service—reading to classrooms, donating books,  encouraging healthy habits, and mentoring teens—grew into structured, impactful programs like Coleman’s Corner, HYPE, and Soy Latina.

Each initiative reflects a chapter in their personal story and a shared belief in the power of community. From hosting free football camps that encourage physical activity, reading initiatives, mentoring youth, and empowering young Latinas to lead with pride and purpose, the foundation has reached thousands—and continues to grow.

Today, The Marcus and Lisa Coleman Foundation stands as a testament to resilience, representation, and the unwavering belief that every child deserves the opportunity to succeed.

Who We Are

The Marcus and Lisa Coleman Foundation is a community-centered nonprofit dedicated to empowering youth through our three signature programs.

Coleman’s Corner

Promotes daily physical activity and a lifelong love of reading through youth football camps led by retired NFL players, community reading events, book donations to schools and first-time teachers, and the upkeep of free mini libraries across San Antonio.

HYPE

Helping Youth Pursue Excellence

Provides targeted mentorship for at-risk youth, supporting academic achievement, character development, and leadership through structured guidance and real-life role models.

Soy Latina

Empowers young Latinas by fostering self-confidence, cultural pride, and leadership through meaningful mentorship, community connection, and transformative experiences.

Together, we are breaking generational cycles, inspiring excellence, and creating opportunities for every child to rise, thrive, and lead.
